The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) has been announced as a finalist in this year’s Queensland Community Achievement Awards (QCAA).

Established in 2008, QATSIF has helped over 8,700 Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

Acting Public Trustee of Queensland and CEO, Samay Zhouand said QATSIF works tirelessly to give Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families increased educational choices and life opportunities.

“As the foundation’s trustee, the Public Trustee works with the QATSIF Board of Advice and is responsible for the investment and distribution of QATSIF funding,” Mr Zhouand said.

In 2018-19, more than $2.6 million was approved in senior education scholarships for young Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

“This is a great achievement for QATSIF as it recognises the important work this vital Foundation does for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in our community.

A gala dinner will be held on Friday, 29 November 2019 to announce the winners of the Queensland Community Achievement Awards.
