In Queensland, the number of allocated gaming machine operating authorities for hotels and entitlements for clubs is managed by the Office of Liquor and Gaming within the Department of Justice and Attorney General (DJAG).

Queensland Public Trustee (QPT) facilitates the tender process for the sale of gaming machine operating authorities and entitlements on behalf of DJAG. This ensures a transparent process in the allocation of authorities/entitlements through a complete separation of duties.

Currently, QPT conducts up to three tenders per year across three identified Queensland regions.
