We are a government entity, dedicated to protecting and supporting the dignity, rights and interests of Queenslanders, both financially and socially. We do this by providing guidance, support and a range of services for government, to our customers and community.
We refer to ourselves as Queensland Public Trustee, but for legal documents we need to use the formal legal name Public Trustee of Queensland.

Real-world example
Did you know that your estate doesn’t always automatically pass to your spouse?
Mary and Paul were married and had a daughter, Sally. However, due to family disagreements, Sally was estranged from her parents for many years.
When Paul died without a Will, instead of the entire estate passing to Mary, a portion was given to Sally, even though Mary maintained Paul would have wanted the estate to go entirely to her.
If you die without a Will, Queensland Intestacy Laws require Queensland Public Trustee to administer the estate and to use a formula for distributing assets which may include children, in addition to a spouse.
